Among the 50 states, Wisconsin is about average when it comes to watching its waistline.
A private report released this week says just over a quarter of Wisconsin residents are obese, placing the state 25th in the nation.
The fattest state is Mississippi, where almost 32% of residents are considered obese. Colorado residents are the leanest, with an obesity rate of 18%.
The report was released Tuesday by the groups Trust for America's Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Nationally, adult obesity rates rose in 37 states in the past year. No state saw a decrease despite campaigns promoting exercise and good nutrition.
Mississippi is followed in chubbiness by West Virginia and Alabama.
