UPDATE: Snow Emergencies Declared
List of communities that have declared snow emergencies:
-- In accordance with City Ordinance 13.04(1), the City of Beloit, hereby declares a snow emergency. The declaration shall take effect at 3:00 pm on Thursday, December 20, 2012 and remain in effect until 3:00 pm on Friday, December 21, 2012. Due to construction downtown, the 400 block of East Grand will be temporarily posted as a one-way street for west bound traffic. When the snow can be removed, eastbound traffic will be restored.
During the snow emergency declaration, the parking or standing of any vehicle on a city street is prohibited. The following parking lots have been designated as official area for off-street parking for residents to park their personal vehicles during a snow emergency.
Krueger Park Upper parking lot- East lots only
Krueger Golf Course Lot - South lot between designated signs
Wootten Park - South end between designated signs
Riverside Part Rotary Center - Two center rows between signs
Riverside Park Jones Shelter - All areas
Angel Museum - All areas
Iron Works South Parking lot - West side of lot between signs
4th St. Public Parking - Center island between signs
West Grand Public Parking - Between designated signs
Telfer Park Parking Lot - South East lot between designated signs
-- Cottage Grove Village President Diane Wiedenbeck pursuant to Village Ordinance has issued a snow emergency, effective at 12 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20 through noon on Friday, Dec. 21. Per Village ordinance, parking on Village streets is prohibited until the snow emergency ends at noon on Friday, Dec. 21. Keeping streets clear of cars helps Village crews quickly and completely clear streets of snow. If you must travel during the snow emergency, please be alert and drive safely.
-- City of Fort Atkinson: The City of Fort Atkinson is declaring a snow emergency. The declaration shall take effect at 12:00 AM December 20,2012 and remain in effect until 6:00 PM December 21, 2012.
-- The City of Janesville has declared a snow emergency for December 20 starting at 5 PM. A snow emergency means that all parked vehicles must be removed from city streets and public parking lots until snow plowing operations are complete. To ensure that you do not receive a parking ticket, please move your vehicle prior to 5 PM and keep your vehicle off city streets until they have been completely plowed.
The best place to park during a snow emergency is in your garage or driveway. If you are unable to park in a driveway or garage, please park in one of the designated snow emergency parking stalls. These stalls are located in the seven downtown municipal parking lots listed below.

Municipal Building Lot at West Wall Street & North Jackson Street
South High Street Lot at West Court Street & South High Street
Senior Center Lot at St. Lawrence Avenue & Water Street
Hedberg Public Library Lot on Water Street

North Parker Drive Parking Ramp at North Parker Drive and East Wall Street
When you arrive at the lot, look for the signs designating the snow emergency parking stalls. Fines for parking on the streets during a snow emergency are $50. The Police Department may begin issuing tickets to violators before plowing operations begin.

-- The Village of McFarland has issued a snow emergency from Wednesday, December 19th, 2012 at 11:00 PM to Friday, December 21st, 2012 at 11:00 PM.
Per Village Ordinance, Section 35-158(b), no vehicles are allowed to be parked on any Village street during the declared snow emergency. Alternate parking is available in the Municipal Center parking lot, McFarland Public Library parking lot and the parking lot located at Exchange Street and Farwell Street.
--The Village of Marshall declares a Snow Emergency in effect starting this evening from 12:00 a.m., Thursday, December 20, 2012, until 12:00 a.m., Saturday, December 21, 2012. When a snow emergency has been declared, no street parking is allowed during the 48 hour declaration or until it has been cancelled. According to Village of Marshall Ordinance 10-1-27(c)(1), The Village Board hereby declares that a snow emergency exists in the Village of Marshall whenever a snowfall during any period of twenty-four (24) hours or less reaches a depth of three (3) inches or more. Such emergency is declared to be a serious public hazard impairing transportation and public health, safety and welfare for a period of forty-eight (48) hours or until such time as snow removal operations have been declared completed by the Director of Public Works or his designee. During a snow emergency, parking on all Village streets is prohibited per Village of Marshall Ordinance 10-1-27(d)(1). Vehicles parked on the street in violation of this ordinance can be ticketed with a $30 fine and may be
towed.
-- The City of Mauston's mayor has official declared a snow emergency for all City Streets. The snow emergency will go into effect at 6:00 am Thursday and last until noon Saturday. The emergency means there will be no parking on any City Streets, during this time, so crews can clear the streets. Violators are subject to a ticket and or towing of their vehicle. Public parking lots and downtown areas will be opened without restriction on their normal parking times, which are 6:00am to 2:00am daily.
-- The Village of Oregon is declaring a Snow Emergency beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19th and continuing until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 22nd. A Snow Emergency means that there is no parking on any Village street until the Snow Emergency has been canceled. Vehicles parked on the street in violation of this ordinance can be ticketed and may be towed.
-- City of Portage : A Snow Emergency has been declared for the City of Portage starting at 2am on Thursday 12-20-12.
Beginning at 2:00am on Thursday 12-20-12, parking is prohibited on all signed snow routes.
Beginning at 4:00am on Thursday 12-20-12, parking is prohibited on all other streets, except the Central Business District.
In the Central Business District, parking is prohibited from 10:00pm on Thursday 12-20-12 to 7:00am on Friday 12-21-12.
Vehicles not complying with these parking regulations are subject to a fine. These vehicles will be towed, and the owner will be responsible for any associated charges.
The Snow Emergency will remain in effect for 48 hours or until it is cancelled by the Street Superintendent. You can keep updated by calling the 24 hour Snow Emergency “Hotline” at 742-2176 Ext. 335.

-- The Village of Shorewood Hills has declared a snow emergency. No vehicles, trailers, etc. shall be parked on Village roadways from 10:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 until 11:59 P.M. on Friday, December 21, 2012. Any vehicle, trailer, etc. on the roadway between these hours is subject to citation and/or towing. If you have any questions, please contact the Shorewood Hills Police Department at 608-267-1110.
-- The City of Stoughton has declared a Snow Emergency. Parking will be even / odd. Goes into effect at Midnight to 8 A.M. and remains in effect until three (3) consecutive Midnight to 8 AM periods have elapsed, or the emergency is cancelled or extended.
-- The City of Sun Prairie is declaring a Snow Emergency beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, December 20 and continuing until 7 a.m. on Friday, December 21. A Snow Emergency means that there is no parking on any City street until the Snow Emergency has been canceled. Vehicles parked on the street in violation of this ordinance can be ticketed ($50 fine) and may be towed.
-- The Town of Windsor has declared a snow emergency. There is no parking on Windsor streets, from 12 noon on Thursday, December 20th until 5 p.m. on Friday, December 21st. Violators may be ticketed and possibly towed.
