11-year-old Shannon Nealon is my adorable Badass Chick of the Day today! One of Shannon's older sisters has Rett Syndrome, which is a disorder of the nervous system. It basically combines the symptoms of autism, cerebral palsy, Parkinson's, epilepsy and anxiety disorders all in one. Shannon has decided to take matters into her own hands and start fundraising for Rett Syndrome research. She's only in 6th grade, but she's already participated in multiple run/walks and has raised close to $4,000. She also has a laundry list of other amazing and socially-conscious accomplishments: she's an altar server, on student council, plays two varsity sports, runs track, mentors Girl Scout troops and volunteers her time at a soccer camp for disabled youth. No matter how you slice it, Shannon is truly a Badass Chick. AND SHE'S ONLY 11!!!! She's got a race this weekend, so if you want to learn more about her cause and help her out, please check this out.
